Learn Lab NOLA presents our second annual Kwanzaa Camp to teach children about the history and relevance of Kwanzaa and the Nguzo Saba.
As an organization that offers primarily STEM programs and activities, Kwanzaa Camp is a welcome departure for the Learning Lab in which we delve into the humanities and arts with a holiday theme. Campers will read, write, create art and much more in celebration of the Nguzo Saba, the seven principles of Kwanzaa. This day camp is not only a great learning opportunity, but it is also a way to occupy your child with something fun and educational during the week after Christmas when school is still out of session. Kwanzaa began in 1966 as a week-long celebration of African heritage and traditional values, and is now celebrated by more than 18 million people each year all around the world. Through Kwanzaa Camp, we hope to educate the New Orleans community about the origin of the holiday, its principles and traditions.
